BHF – Bag House Filter

Case:

Background & Challenge

A customer experienced persistent dust emission problems from a production machine despite having an existing extraction system installed. The dust generated by the process affected both workplace cleanliness and operational efficiency, creating a need for a long-term solution.

PF System conducted a detailed site assessment and identified two primary causes of the issue: insufficient airflow and extraction hoods that were not effectively capturing dust at the source.

PF System’s Solution

Following the investigation, PF System developed a new extraction and filtration solution specifically designed for the machine. The existing filter was disconnected from the application and replaced with a dedicated filtration unit serving only this process.

In addition, a new hood design was engineered to capture dust directly at the point of generation. The new filtration system was designed with an airflow capacity of 30,000 m³/h, providing the volume required for effective dust collection.

The disconnected filter was subsequently reused further downstream in the production line, where additional dust sources required extraction.

Results

  • Significantly improved source capture efficiency.
  • Increased extraction capacity with a dedicated 30,000 m³/h filtration system.
  • Reduced dust emissions throughout the production area.
  • Improved workplace environment and process stability.
  • More efficient utilization of existing equipment through filter relocation.
  • Ability to address additional dust sources elsewhere in the production line without further filter investment.

Customer Value

By combining properly dimensioned airflow with an optimized hood design, PF System addressed the root cause of the dust problem rather than merely treating the symptoms.

The solution provided improved process control, a cleaner working environment, and a more efficient use of existing assets. At the same time, it created a reliable foundation for long-term operation with reduced overall ownership costs.
