Background & Challenge

A customer contacted PF System through one of our partners regarding a serious issue in their filtration process. The existing dust collector, manufactured from carbon steel, was deteriorating due to the oxidative and corrosive characteristics of the material being filtered.

Following a detailed site assessment, it was determined that neither carbon steel nor acid-resistant stainless steel would provide a satisfactory long-term solution. The process conditions were such that even highly corrosion-resistant metallic materials would eventually be affected.

PF System’s Solution

PF System conducted a comprehensive material study to identify a construction material capable of withstanding the aggressive process environment. The investigation confirmed that fiberglass offered significantly greater resistance to the substances present in the process and represented the most suitable long-term solution.

A review of available products on the market revealed that no established supplier had experience providing fiberglass dust collectors for this type of application. As a result, PF System initiated the development of a completely customized solution.

Working together with a local fiberglass fabrication specialist, PF System designed and engineered a custom fiberglass filter housing. The unit was pressure tested to verify its suitability for the operating conditions. The project also included the installation of the dust collector and a complete plastic ducting system.

Customer Value

When conventional solutions proved inadequate, PF System developed a completely new filtration concept tailored to the customer’s process requirements. By combining material expertise, engineering experience, and close collaboration with specialized suppliers, a long-term solution was achieved where traditional alternatives would have struggled.

This project demonstrates one of PF System’s core strengths: selecting and designing the right filtration solution for the actual process, even when it requires creating something entirely new.
